About the UKRCC

UK Ragdoll Cat Rehoming and Welfare Trust

The United Kingdom Ragdoll Cat Community was set up in February 2004, as an informative, friendly website for all Ragdoll lovers and those researching the breed. Over time the role of the UKRCC developed and in November 2005 we became a Charitable Trust, registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

The objects of the UK Ragdoll Rehoming and Welfare Charitable Trust as per our Declaration of Trust are:

"TO PROMOTE HUMANE BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS ANIMALS, IN PARTICULAR RAGDOLL CATS, BY PROVIDING APPROPRIATE CARE, PROTECTION, TREATMENT AND SECURITY FOR ANIMALS WHICH ARE IN NEED OF CARE AND ATTENTION BY REASON OF SICKNESS, MALTREATMENT, POOR CIRCUMSTANCES OR ILL USAGE AND TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC IN MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE WELFARE OF RAGDOLL CATS IN GENERAL AND THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY AND SUFFERING AMONG SUCH ANIMALS."

This we achieve in the following ways:

1.Through the provision of the UK Ragdoll Rehoming and Welfare scheme, which secures safe, loving homes for needy Ragdolls, funds veterinary care when necessary and provides fostercare to homeless Ragdolls.

2.Through the provision of the UKRCC website and forum, which aims to educate and to provide information and support for Ragdoll owners and those interested in the breed.

3.By providing support and advice to Ragdoll owners and potential owners via an emergency phone line and by email.

4.By working with and supporting other cat rescue groups in the care and rehoming of Ragdoll cats.

The UKRCC is run solely by a team of dedicated volunteers and their work is funded purely by donations.

The reasons that older Ragdolls find their way into the care of UKRCC Welfare are varied, divorce, the birth of a baby, illness of the owner, child allergy, financial difficulties, to name just a few. If owners find that a change in their circumstances means they can no longer keep their Ragdoll, we work with them to secure a new, safe, loving home for the cat. We will never turn anyone away and every Ragdoll is special to us. Great care is taken to match the right Ragdoll to the right home and every single potential adopter has a home check carried out by a local re-homing contact. No Ragdoll is ever placed in an unsuitable home. Sometimes a Ragdoll may need to be removed from its current home situation immediately and if this is the case, then we have volunteers with foster houses, who will take the Ragdoll in and foster them until a suitable home is found. Any veterinary treatment, vaccinations, de-matting fees etc. is paid for from UKRCC funds. All adopters sign a homing agreement and are asked to make a donation of £70 to UKRCC welfare.

If you feel you can offer a special home to an older Ragdoll, or need help finding a new loving home for your Ragdoll please call us on 0870 766 9823. We will do all we can to help and support you.

We have now launched the UKRCC shop and are hoping to raise enough money to pay for the installation of a dedicated, purpose built foster pen in the home counties, in addition to building on the fund for any veterinary or fostering fees etc. We have a range of inexpensive Ragdoll related gifts, perfect for all cat lover.
